I’ve done a lot of thinking

and I’m not entirely sure I’m happy where I am headed. I take classes, work to receive certificates, apply for specific jobs, all to better my chances at someday landing a job which, as I’m constantly reminded by everyone around me, is akin to death. I see everyday the opportunities I sacrifice, the disciplines I neglect, all to stay “on track”, and it haunts me. I like to think that I genuinely like accounting; I really do. But I’ve got my whole life ahead of me to die. And so I think I’m going to look into joining the peace corps. It’ll take a lot for me to walk away from the security of an accounting job, and at this point the peace corps is nothing more than a pipe dream. It’s kind of always been a pipe dream of mine. But it doesn’t hurt to hope that two years from now I can be happy with where I will be headed. And really if anything, it may hurt if I fail to have hope.

If I had four minutes and twelve seconds left to live, there’d certainly be worse ways to die than to do it listening to this song.

Brand New recently did an interview in the midst of their last UK tour. Jesse Lacey confirmed that the band will be hitting the studio in April, and while they are not certain of a release date,…

Not getting my hopes up too high, but this is basically the best news ever

I’m tired

of exams. After getting back an accounting midterm today, I discovered because I missed one letter — ONE LETTER — in an acronym on a free response question, I got 0 points for the entire question. That one question lowered my grade on the exam 4%. In a class where the curve only allows 6% of students get an A. I understand as an accountant it is important to be accurate, but the theory behind my answer was evident, and correct. And as opposed to using this mistake as a learning experience, I can’t help but be left with a bitter feeling towards the whole field in general. Oh well, rapidly approaching the real world. T-minus 2 years. Neh.
